Not sure if it makes it to the release though. There are other pressing matters such as making pretender sprites and new pretenders and fixing other sprites that are unfinished.

I would like to expand the pretender lists. There is plenty to draw from. Unfortunately I was a bit short on time this summer, so while Mictlan and mideastern nations got a load of new pretenders I didn't finish many others. There will likely be more pretenders fom the far east, north and celtic nations later on.

The Jomon UW addition was an effect of me wanting to do Ruygu-jo: a dragon king nation of japanese flavor. Since I didn't have time or inspiration at the time, I incorporated it into Jomon. Ruygu-jo is a likely new UW nation in Dom4, but I will have to consider what I will do with Jomon. I don't want to give Jomon too much of a theme nerf. I quite like that they can get under water.

Pretender choices will be expanded in an upcoming patch I hope. I would like to add more monsters and messenger type pretenders (domstr 2) to make more disciple chassis available. I'm not sure, but I might go for a pretender patch after the current cave patch.


14.4.5

I have a tendency to work on whatever inspires me at the moment. I have ideas on a dozen nations or more.
I randomly started to make some fixes on Caelum. Since Caelum has been mentioned as a nation with some needs I worked some more.
Then I made some Zoroastrian themed pretenders and researched some more on Zoroastrianism and got further ideas.
The new nations are ideas for flying nations that has been around for a while, but if I rework Caelum I might as well work on a flier patch.
Finishing Uruk would or Rus or LA Machaka or fixing Pelagia would make the patch less coherent and make me less focused on making a complete fix. Likely I would just make a bit here and a bit there. The Cave patch made me realise that I make more complete overhauls if I focus on a theme. And it was more fun that way.
A water patch or a pretender patch or a geographic patch might be next. Or just a single nation patch.
I was a bit tired after the cavepatch and was not very productive for a while (and my regular job was a bit stressing). Also I was beaten in my MP game. SO I was a bit out of touch with dom4 for a while. So it its possible that I work less after a major content patch.
Anyway, ATM I'm inspired and eagerly awaiting easter break (one week to go) :) .

Anahita is an early Iranian water and fertility goddes. she becomes incorporated into the avestan faith as one of the yazatas, but she doesn't get the title Ahura.
I had ideas for her as a mideastern titan pretender available to more nations, but it is unlikely that I'll finish her for this patch.

Not sure on the time limit, but the Crown is low lvl and should not compete with artifacts anyway.

One unique per game I would guess.

There might be a Nagadevi or something in the future. Either as a part of a eastern focused patch or as a part of a pretender focused patch. Or just randomly in another patch. I have started on it once, but got sidetracked, so it is only one third finished I think.

When I'm eventually finished with an UW patch, I wouldn't mind doing an eastern patch, unless I don't do a second UW patch, or an African patch, or an Uruk, or Rus, or whatever :)
In an eastern/indian/pretender patch I might finish up some ideas on Daityas (other demon titan summons) and Asuras (pretender titans) for the indian nations.

Since 4.10 is out I thought it might be interesting to know what I'm planning for the next patch.

I wanted to continue a bit on Caelum with an idea I had last summer. Since Caelum was recently updated it felt fitting to make this nation now.
And after the cave and flight patch and the introduction of the Zotz, Xibalba fits equally well.
The new patch will have a meso/south american theme (regarding nations at least).


14.8.20

UW is the most likely theme patch after this one.
Both with UW changes and new UW nations.
Actually there might be 2 UW patches, since I have plenty of ideas on new UW nations (apart from the LA oceania and pelagia that needs to be done)



So Uruk might be made if I start to work on another mideastern nation, or Abysia migfht get attention if I start to work on Uruk, or Uruk might appear if I remake Ur etc.



Currently no camels in sight, but there are ideas for an arabic themed nation including camels, but I have no idea when and if I get to that. Perhaps at the same time Machaka gets a LA, or when Uruk appears.

When I get to Uruk (or a pretender mod) Ur will have Abgallus instead, or Bene Elohim (but they might be restricted to Gath, Ashdod etc, not sure yet).

I don't think the patch will appear within the upcoming week or three.

The patch is a bit of a patch-between-patches that has turned into a pretender-patch.
My intention is that the next big patch will be an UW patch, so this one was at first mostly to fix some stuff (like supaya spam, statfixes etc) but a growing frustration on the pretender osts and viability of monsters/arch mages resulted in reworked designpoint calculations. This generated an increasing frustration on my part concerning the limited monster choices (as well as national pretender choices).

My current goal on this patch is to add some more pretenders (mostly monsters) and perhaps some other fixes, nerfs or buffs, an a possible new idea of some importance (but not very time consuming).

Since this patch doesn't have a clear content end like an UW patch would, it is more or less finished when I think I have added enough pretenders. At this moment that means enough new monsters.

Pretenders I want to add:
- More monsters for all: Partly done, main focus for this patch
- More messengers
- More UW
- More celtic
- More norse
- More mex/american
- More indian
- More japanese
- More chinese
- More greek


I have lots of ideas (since there is a plethora of gods in the worlds of myth), but I will try to add pretenders a bit in groups. I think I prefer to make a group of japanese gods at the same time, and not an Amaterasu at one time and a Tsukuyomi later.
I will not make UW pretenders in this patch, but I intend to make several new ones in the UW patch: monsters, immobiles, mages and titans.

I'm currently working mostly on monster pretenders, but I have thought a lot about and planned for UW fixes and nations. I work in a similar fashion here. In order to make Pelagia different and more interesting I more or less need a context, meaning I will probably need to create new nations or rewrite other nations in the process. I'm a bit concerned about how much work the UW patch might demand. I want to rework EA and MA Pelagia a bit, MA Atlantis. Major rework on EA and LA R'lyeh and some mA R'lyeh. Make four entirely new nations: LA Pelagia, LA Oceania (that are still sadly missing), and add two (or possibly three) new nations that have connections (conceptually more or less fininshed) with existing UW and land nations. I'm not sure how work will proceed. I feel sort of obliged to make the missing Pelagia and Oceania, but I have more new and inspiring ideas for the new nations. One of them will be connected with EA Pelagia and therefore good for a rework of Pelagian history and development.



I have UW ideas on asian nations as well, but have already decided to wait with those for a possible second UW patch (Dragon kings and a hindu inspired nation). Or an Asian patch.


At least I want to make an explanation as to why they disappear/gets wiped. I have a nation concept ready for Pelagia (or a successor of Pelagia though it will have a new name and some major changes. Oceania on the other hand is as of yet unconcieved).


One new nation is very much related to Telchines.

More celtic gods and a Marverni update will come later. I have a lot of ideas though.

Patch-day is drawing near. There are a few new chassis that will likely not make it into the patch. Tweaking national pretender costs will take priority. But I'm still confident there are enough new monters available.

Celtic and Norse nations still have a somewhat limited selection of gods although they each got a couple of new ones. It is likely that I will sneak in a couple more in the UW patch, especially a few celtic ones.


15.02.25

Swans and deer also features prominently in Celtic myth, although that might be harder to include.

I have ideas for those as well.



I did some research on celtic myth and iconography during the work on this patch (and as inspiration to a possible Marverni update). Some of it did appear in the Boar, the Dog and the Rams-Headed Serpent, some will come later. Considerations on Fay Boars in Celtic vs norse myth made me think a bit about giving fay boars to Marverni. Not sure how that will turn out. At the time I didn't think about the reverse, giving Boar gods to Norse nations, but it is definitely fitting, although I will probably make a different one without the three horns and the golden pelt.

15.03.09

They might get a couple of other canines. Garm, skoll etc.
Current one was more inspirerad by celtic ideas. I considered adding it to norse nations, decided to make other ones instead and suddenly realized that it was patchtime and i didn't havet time to make them.


I will look at all UW pretenders in the next patch.
Many have WE atm. THere will be more pretenders and those that are available atm might get changed.


15.04.12

UW only pretenders was number two on my todo list.
Pelagia was number one.
Therodos was intended to be number three, but Pelagian changes made me continue with Therodos instead of Pretenders.
Oceania was number four on my intended fix-list.

Five was more amphibious (land or UW) pretenders
And then some R'lyeh

And ... and ... a number of times.

15.06.04

Possibly in a distant future. ATM I'm working on underwater nations. After that I might turn to Asia, or celtic nations, or african or arabian inspired ones. Or something entirely different. Or making one or two of the promised but not yet made nations such as Uruk or Rus. I have plenty of ideas and there are plenty of wishes here in the community. It is quite random what I work on. In part I try to combine the wishes and needs with my own ideas, as was the case with the caelum patch. Caelum needed a rework, and I had some ideas that evolved into Ragha. My Caelum ideas extended into Nazca and that made me want to make the Xibalban nations making a mesoamerican/peruvian patch.

So something seljuks-like might appear, but it is likely that there will be several nations made before that.

16.02.14

Various void critters will probably be moved from CoE4 soon, but it is likely that we will release a patch quite soon and in that case the void critters will wait a short while. However we have been working more on Dom4 the last week and it is likely I will continue with that even after a patch is released. I'm in a bit of a mythos mode and would like to add some stuff and possibly pretenders.

而在伴随着这一大工程的完成,KO也终于有空回到论坛展望自己的未来计划了,于是一些新的更大的坑也随之出现了。

在提到之后会不会有COE5时,KO答到:

There will most likely be another version of CoE some day, but after the realease of Dom5 we will probably work mostly with support, patches and new stuff for dom5 for a while. Then we will probably return to one of our unfinished projects and then, all of a sudden rediscover coe and add stuff and then a new version of coe might appear.

I have found myself fighting with an urge to work on TaT, 9M and DoE instead of Dom5. Now we will have some more free time to spend on those new old projects.

TaT is something of a fantasy, base building, trading and survival game. It is a playable game, but it is currently best suited for a small group of friends in cooperative play. It is currently very user unfriendly (more so than dominions ever was) since we have added a lot of stuff and never bothered to explain anything in game. I'm not sure if it would ever be a sellable game, but I like it and have probably spent several hundred hours paying it. The game has surprised us many times and caused frustration and despair as ants, undead or horrors devastate the world. It is kind of an apocalyptic roguelike basebuilding game with intended nethackish legacy ideas. Hmm, better stop talking about it, or I'll have a hard time focusing on dom5. =)

9M is our attempt at a space game. Possibly a bit dominionesque. This one might be easier to concieve, but needs more work.

DoE is a somewhat storydriven dungen crawl in the Elysium setting, with some dominion influences coupled with a variant if the career system of TaT. The storyteller in me likes this one.

And with the pretender patch for dom4 some potential monster summons (like kerberos) became monster pretenders.

I should probably make an overhaul of some of the older summons and diversify them.

BTW there is a new Lar summon for roman nations. A Penate is intended to follow, but I haven't made him yet.

Northern Europe had a problem with literacy, and therefore there is no written sources on their myth and legends. The greeks, the indians, the chinese and the sumerians all have thousands of pages of mythological texts written in ancient times. The best texts on northern european myths are written hundreds of years after they were concieved, in the best cases. Same goes for much of african myth.

Since I usually look at existent concepts when I make a new nation some nations have more fantastic beasts ansd summons in their repertoire than others. I find it more appealing to create an Ugallu storm demon from sumerian iconography than making up a 'viking storm demon' where there is no precedent for such a thing.

That said I would still like to add more summons to Marverni and others, but they would probably be variants of animals, a bit like the thrice-horned boar, that do appear in iconography. But I would have to research a bit more and allow myself a bit of creative freedom, which may be problematic =)

关于Marverni:

There are few written sources on gaulic myth. Archaeological finds tend to depict animals. Iconographically boars and dogs are often represented. The Rams-Headed serpent is another common motif, but that one became a pretender. There are a couple of new pretenders in dom5 from gaulic myth and there might be more of these, like Nantosuelta that often appear together with Sucellus (the Hammer God, one of the new pretenders).

其实我很想看到以东南亚(尤其是菲律宾和印尼)为原型弄出来的国家,可惜估计制作组是一时半会想不到那里去了。

我个人预测5代新国家主要会是非洲,北欧和亚洲。具体来说,给出machaka的后续,sobek的后续。北欧国家改版,添加火巨人。亚洲做几个水族。不过也不排除做一些中国和印度辐射的国家。

手册上又开了两个新坑:Nazca的后续,Ys与Marignon的交汇。

之前,据说作者又一次将兴趣转向了dom的开发,那么这一次会不会来填坑呢?
我们再盘点一次都有哪些坑还没有填上。

国家

1. LA machaka 至少在13年已经宣告过即将完成,但是如今依然没见。
2. Ruygu-jo 龙宫,13年就提到可能出现的水族。
3. LA oceania 水族补丁最后的一部分,14年就提到过。
4. 有骆驼的阿拉伯主题国家,14年提到,当时提到有可能和LA machaka一起出现。
5. 印度主题的水族,15年和龙宫一起提到。
6.5代开发过程中曾经提到在做的火焰巨人,Muspelheim。

5.32版的玉藻前的背景故事中带出了两个新的国名:Ind 和 Gog

前者应该就是指印度,后者有人指出可能是来自启示录中的Gog and Magog

其中提到的Prester King可能是指 Prester John

目前猜测集中在LA Uruk,或者某个与俄罗斯有关的中亚国家

Ind is most likely the next nation to appear. The basics of the nation is taking form.

But there will probably be a smaller patch before a new nation patch.

K.O论坛发帖确认有制作新国家Ind的想法,预计在下下个补丁。
目前猜测应该与印度有关,时代在MA,有总督(Viceroy)和祭司王(Prester King),有部分地区名称为Gog。
网上有几种猜测:
1.殖民化的印度
2.与LA Machaka有互动
3.与LA Uruk有关
4.与蒙古有关

也有可能是填之前印度水族的坑。

另外,由于下下个补丁才是新国家,那么怀疑下个补丁会继续加强已有国家,东亚有较大希望。有可能加强TC或者给TC和日本系国家补充怪物神选择。
